'Corporate practices and the health of populations: a research and translational agenda'

Published by: Lancet Public Health; (2020) 5(2)Pe80-e81

This paper provides an introduction to research on the corporate drivers of poor health, why they matter, and what research and action is needed to carry this field forward.

It proposes three potential approaches that could advance the study of the commercial determinants of health:

  1. Cross-disciplinary work.
  2. More purposeful and forward-looking research funding is needed.
  3. Researchers should participate in broader conversations with the public, policy makers, and the media about how existing evidence might better inform areas such as regulation, public–private partnerships, and trade.
