Profile
I am a public health researcher and evaluator focused on improving population health, reducing inequities, and strengthening the pathways that connect evidence to impact.
Bridging the evidence-to-action gap
I am passionate about bridging the gap between research evidence and its application in practice and policy. As Associate Director, Research Engagement and Impact, I lead efforts to strengthen institutional capacity to maximise societal impact. Internationally, I recently contributed to the WHO Global Research Agenda on Knowledge Translation.
Advancing health and equity
My research spans physical activity, systems change and fostering supportive environments for research impact and use. It involves three interconnected areas:
- - Developing evidence and methods for place-based approaches that address social determinants of health.
- - Understanding physical activity behaviours and designing effective interventions in community and clinical settings.
- - Identifying how individuals, organisations, and funders can create the conditions that ensure evidence is both relevant and used in policy and practice
Making research useable
I aim to conduct research that is both rigorous and relevant. I work closely with practitioners and policy-makers, designing studies that mirror real-world conditions. I also focus on producing practical outputs, such as frameworks, tools, and briefs, and share them widely to boost the reach and impact of my work.
Creating systemic change for impact
Alongside my academic role, I am the co-founder of Quality for Outcomes, a Melbourne-based social enterprise. We work with health promotion providers, funders, and system partners to embed quality, equity, and evidence into practice through tools, training, and strategies that enhance outcomes for communities.
